Building SEL in Communities Online

BOOST Collaborative and YouTube Logos

Did you know that BOOST has been offering trainings, workshops, and learning communities online over the past year?

Many of our past sessions are available for rewatch on our YouTube page, with new videos added regularly. We currently have over 100 free educational videos for you to enjoy!

On October 16, 2020, our friend (and BOOST Ambassador) Nathan Houston, Founder of IAMIMPACT in Sacramento, CA, presented a training on Building SEL in Communities Online.

In this 45-minute training, Nathan goes over the importance of creating virtual spaces that promote social and emotional learning and build strong communities as programs continue to engage students and families online. In “It starts with me but doesn’t end with me,” participants will focus on building strong virtual communities.

With so much still unknown about when we’ll be returning to in-person instruction and programs, it’s more important than ever to ground our work in SEL and ensure we’re connecting with our students, colleagues, and communities, whether we’re online or in shared spaces.

BOOST has also created several documents to support your learning and to help you be accountable, reflective, and gain perspective in your learning process. Give yourself a metacognitive boost and create an action plan to apply your learning experience implementation. We have a PD Tracker designed specifically to complement our YouTube videos, as well as a comprehensive BOOST Professional Development Plan that allows you to intentionally plan and track your participation in professional trainings that support your knowledge, skills, and career goals while meeting the needs of your organization.
