American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is a medical association dedicated to improving life for children and their families affected by mental, behavioral, or developmental disorders. AACAP promotes and supports research and training curricula to assure proper treatment in child psychiatry. Additionally, the Academy acts as a government liaison to respond to national policy in order to improve and expand psychiatric services to children and adolescents.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

The AFSP provides resources and information on how to prevent suicide, the signs of suicide, and where to go when you need help.

ANAD

National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to assisting people battling eating disorders such as Anorexia nervosa and Bulimia nervosa. ANAD supports individuals through awareness, advocacy, referral, prevention and education. In addition, ANAD runs a helpline and help email system.

Anxiety and Depression Association of America

Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) works to improve the lives of millions of children and adults who suffer from anxiety and depression by promoting profession and public awareness of such disorders and how these illnesses impact people’s lives. ADAA encourages the advancement of scientific knowledge about anxiety, depression and related disorders to improve prevention, treatments, and cures. Additionally, ADAA links people who need treatment with experienced health providers that can provide the necessary health care.

ASIF

Adolescent Self Injury Foundation (ASIF) is a non-profit that strives to raise awareness about adolescent self injury by providing education, prevention techniques, research and resources. ASIF hopes to increase understanding of issues related to self injury to help guide adolescents and families back to wellness and recovery.

Autism Society

The Autism Society is the nation’s leading grassroots autism organization. We work to increase public awareness about the day-to-day issues about people across the spectrum, advocate for appropriate services for individuals of every age, and provide the latest information regarding treatment, education, research, and advocacy.

Autism Speaks

Autism Speaks is an organization that is committed to funding research into the prevention, causes, treatments, and a cure for autism. The organization is dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders as well as advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

Brady Campaign

In getting the bipartisan Brady Law passed in 1993, Jim and Sarah Brady accomplished the inconceivable. But there’s more work to be done — and only when we work together will we solve this problem. In order to do that work, we must accept these three truths about America’s gun violence epidemic: 1) Gun ownership demands responsibility; 2) Those empowered to do so must uphold existing gun laws; and 3) Gun violence is a uniquely American problem that impacts all races and ethnicities in the country, but nonetheless exacts a particular toll on Black and Brown communities.

Bring Change to Mind

Bring Change 2 Mind is a national organization that works to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness. The campaign distributes Public Education Materials based on the scientific findings in an effort to confront the public’s misconceptions of mental health.

CED collaborates with a variety of eating disorder centers and organizations that promote education and awareness in the United States.

Child Trauma Toolkit for Educators

Children with childhood traumatic grief often try to avoid talking about the deceased person or their feelings about the death, but talking about it may be important for resolving trauma symptoms that are interfering with the child’s ability to grieve. If symptoms similar to those listed on this sheet persist, professional help may be needed. The professional should have experience in working with children and adolescents and specifically with issues of grief and trauma.

Connections for Kids

Connections for Kids is a fully licensed mental health agency located in Maine, that serves children, adults, and families. They offer a multitude of behavioral health and clinician services to help families and youth through their everyday life struggles.
