This family engagement toolkit, produced by the California Department of Education, was developed to provide districts and schools with practical planning and evaluation tools that support efforts to engage all families, particularly those of underrepresented and underserved students.
TASC created this toolkit to help school planning teams refine their family engagement strategies and clarify what they are trying to do, why, and how. TASC includes a definition of “family engagement,” specific strategies and tactics that are rooted in the research on what works, and a curated collection of resources. In addition, they have also created a review of research literature as a companion resource.

There are nearly 100 Parent Training and Information Centers (PTIs) and Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs) in the US and Territories. These centers are working with families of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities, birth to 26; helping parents participate effectively in their children’s education and development; and partnering with professionals and policy makers to improve outcomes for all children with disabilities.
