Director of Outreach and Engagement

The Massachusetts Afterschool Partnership (MAP) is seeking diligent, confident candidates for the role of Director of Outreach and Engagement. This Director will act as the liaison between our organization and our partners in the field, and in collaboration with the Executive Director will direct communications strategy across a diverse set of stakeholders including program partners, funders, advocates, advisors, and elected officials. The Director of Outreach and Engagement will manage day to day communications, including social media, and will serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing program partners.

The Director will interact with stakeholders to effectively deliver our message to the public and the media through multiple channels. The Director will help create promotional materials, contribute to the development of the organization’s website and other online content, and organize meetings and presentations. The Director will support the Director of Professional Development in administrative tasks related to services provided to afterschool programs. Duties will be diverse and multi-faceted. Candidates must possess superb written and verbal communication skills, have a talent for building strong relationships, and demonstrate a willingness to become a content expert on targeted areas of impact within OST. Candidates must also work well independently and with limited coaching to be able to jump into this role and hit the ground running.

Responsibilities:

●     Managing a statewide grant program and provide support services to grantees.

●     Developing and implementing a cohesive communications strategy across advocacy and education efforts.

●     Create content for both print and web including the MAP website, collateral materials, and newsletter.

●     Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners and other stakeholders, including leading organizational media relations.

●     Manage MAP’s social media and online presence.

●     Oversee organizational community relations, including maintain and updating partner records, collecting data, tracking statistics, and preparing reports.

●     Organize and curate events, trainings, and resources for OST programs.

●     Assess and report on effectiveness of communications and outreach strategies.

●     Participate in annual budgeting process and ongoing fund development work, as needed.

●     Assist with administrative responsibilities of the organization/professional development needs.

 

Required Qualifications:

●     Enthusiasm for becoming an issue expert, especially within areas of interest and impact for OST

●     Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once.

●     Excellent writing and editing skills.

●     Communicates clearly and effectively, including in settings requiring facilitation of larger conversations & meetings.

●     Knowledge of or willingness to learn communications and technology apps.

●     Confidence to build and maintain relationships.

●     Willingness to travel, primarily in Massachusetts and occasionally around the country.

●     Bachelor’s Degree

 

Preferred Qualifications:

●     Familiarity with working in a non-profit or governmental agency.

●     A background in macro social work, human services, education, or related field.

●     Experience working in communications, community outreach, member management, and/or grant management.

Compensation

This is a full-time position. The salary range is $45,000-55,000 per year based on qualifications and experience. Health benefits.
