Voting and Voices Classroom Resources

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) engages audiences in a community education program, Learning for Justice. This resource provides educators with free resources to encourage youth civic participation as well as to learn honest history, promote servant leadership, and move toward a racially and socially just society.

This collection of resources has been curated by SPLC to offer lessons for elementary and middle school classrooms that focus on elections and voting.

BCYF SuperTeens Program

The BCYF SuperTeens Program is a six week leadership program for 13 and 14 year olds who are interested in developing new skills, making new friends, and having a fun summer. This program is specifically designed to meet the needs of young adults who are too old for a traditional summer camp experience, but are not yet old enough to secure a summer job.

National Young Leaders Conference

National Young Leaders Conference: Skills in Leadership for Change is an annual youth conference for high school students. The conference provides students with experiences and strategies to succeed and prepare in college. Through the interactive program, students gain hands-on experience and are also given the opportunity to earn college credit through George Mason University.

Ashoka’s Start Empathy Initiative

The Changemaker Schools Network is a global community of leading elementary, middle, and high schools that prioritize empathy, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and changemaking as student outcomes. Ashoka’s Start Empathy Initiative is a collaborative platform for social entrepreneurs, educators, and citizens whose ideas and talents can contribute to the creation of a world where every child masters empathy. Ashoka has a three-part strategy which includes accelerating empathy entrepreneurs, partnering with top schools, and changing the conversation to shift societal views of empathy.

The mission of Youth Leadership America (YLA) is to develop and inspire America’s young leaders through collaboration with community leaders and mentorship for the collective benefit of the students and the community.
