Program Coordinator

ScholarMatch is seeking a temporary, part-time, Program Coordinator to play an important role in our growing non-profit. This position is ideal for a candidate who has a passion for our mission and excellent presentation skills. The goal for this temporary position is to help recruit and award 200 high school students for the SELA Scholarship program.

This is a temporary, remote position that will work 10-15 hours a week from January 22 through May 23, 2025 and report to the Director of College Access. While this is a remote position, all candidates must reside in the Greater Los Angeles Area.

The responsibilities for this temporary role are outlined below:

January through March 2025:

  • Receive training and preparation for project plan
  • Host and facilitate application workshops, answer questions, etc.
  • Review facilitation materials, send out all recordings and application guide to students, schools, and CBOs
  • Contact all interested staff and volunteers regarding participation in the selection process
  • Coordinate and select scholarship committee readers, notify committee selection decision, host and coordinate reader training, and prepare relevant scholarship committee materials

Reading SELA Selection

  • Coordinate SP reading including scholarship committee reminders, review application submissions for accuracy/errors, etc.
  • Read scholar application.
  • Finalize acceptance and denial communication, etc.
  • Communicate with students regarding SP reading selection & next steps

Standard Selection

  • Coordinate and backward plan scholar selection with the Director of College Access & Senior Director of Programs and Compliance
  • Scholar notification communication, update relevant communication language, review scholar acceptance forms, etc.

Scholar Onboarding & Project Close-out

  • In collaboration with the Scholars team, support with planning of new Scholar Orientation
  • Review project plan and conduct reflection and close out meeting
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned with an “all hands on deck” mindset

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Professional experience or expertise and knowledge around issues facing first-generation, low-income college students, and comfort in engaging in direct communications with students
  • Advanced proficiency in Office Suite, GSuite, and database management and experience with MacOS
  • Must have excellent written communication skills
  • Must be able to to hold sensitive information confidentially, and navigate urgent and/or sensitive student issues with care, maturity, and responsibility
  • Must be able to perform all functions of this position within what would be deemed to be reasonable accommodations
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities throughout the organization
  • Must be comfortable working in an anti-racist organization with a diverse group of external callers and visitors and internal staff at all levels

Preferred but not Required

  • Spanish language proficiency

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this temporary position is:

  • Los Angeles: $25.50/hour
