RESPONSIBILITIES

This position of Ambassador Team Lead is responsible for the following:

DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTING TO A CLEAN, SAFE, AND WELCOMING DOWNTOWN FRESNO

  • Provide a visible, uniformed presence in designated areas of downtown to maintain a safe and friendly environment
  • Remove and report trash and debris from specified areas of Downtown utilizing provided tools and supplies
  • Provide verbal and written directions to downtown patrons
  • Distribute relevant marketing materials / info to property and business owners
  • Assist with event set up / take down as necessary
  • Walk, stand, or work outdoors, sometimes in extreme weather (high temperatures, storms, etc.)
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 35 pounds

HELPING LEAD THE EFFORTS OF A LARGER TEAM

  • Learn and teach our program’s standard trainings to Youth Ambassadors, including making constructive corrections when possible
  • Learn and train others on duties for special events or special programs such as the Downtown Ice Rink
  • Supervise shifts of Youth Ambassadors in daily or special event duties
  • Organize work shifts, in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Operations Manager
  • Respond to any issues that arise the course of Youth Ambassadors’ work which require a supervisor’s intervention to resolve
  • Report effectively to other supervisors on team performance and any management issues

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform these duties effectively, the candidate hired must possess the following professional qualities.

Time and task management – Checking in / out team recording accurate attendance. Ensuring employees have all necessary items needed before entering field. Assigning team tasks and monitoring timely completion. Documenting completed tasks to track progress and measure overall program impact.

Attention to detail – Ensuring correct approach and techniques are being taken while our team is working in the field with clean and green or hospitality roles. Recognizing when repeat trainings may be appropriate and respectfully correcting mistakes, miscommunications as needed.

Presence and problem solving – Actively seek opportunities to provide exceptional customer service to our team and our community. This includes anticipating and addressing any concerns, questions, or needs that individuals may have. Coordinating with Operations Manager and rest of staff as needed. Comfortable having a mentor role and being a point of contact in conflict resolution with Ambassadors or general public.

Not required but strongly encouraged to apply:

  • 1 – 2 years of management experience such as a store manager, shift lead, foreman, or other supervisory role
  • Experience working with youth / young adults in a professional or volunteer setting
  • Full time availability (Weekends included)
  • Ability to work early mornings / late evenings on certain event days
  • Passion for and knowledge of Downtown Fresno
  • Additional languages (Spanish especially)

In addition, the candidate hired must be willing and able to drive a golf cart, and must provide proof of a valid driver’s license. The position requires use of applications on one’s own smartphone to update and document work, and use of an office computer.

EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

As a full-time position, your benefits will include access to employer-sponsored health coverage, a paid holiday schedule of 12 days per year, paid vacation (3 weeks/year) and sick time (up to 80 hours cap), and access to a voluntary retirement savings program.

Salary
$22 – $25 per hour
