Career Center Assistant
Salary Range: $22.01 To $30.84 Hourly

Position Summary
Reporting to the Career Center Manager, the Career Center Assistant will serve as the concierge and the first point of contact with job seekers requesting in-person services at assigned Career Centers. The Career Center Assistant provides walk-in clients with empathetic and well-informed workforce development services. The Career Center Assistant will interact with the public, coordinate with internal staff, co-located partners, and community partners to serve mutual participants, ensuring effective front desk management, resource and computer lab coordination, event coordination, and client services.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for front desk & reception, including welcoming, greeting and supporting all clients, staff, and guests at the assigned Career Center.
- Respond to client inquiries related to SDWP’s programs and services, co-located partners’ programs, and other resources available at the Center.
- Maintain a current, well-organized, and welcoming reception area, including lobby, front desk, resource room & computer lab, and other service areas at the Center.
- Support career center operations, including center open/closing, as needed, to ensure appropriate services are provided.
- Support Career Center Manager and SDWP team members, including submission and follow-up of center-related facilities requests, and address safety concerns to Center leadership.
- Coordinate and support Center staff in events and meetings, including planning, scheduling, resources, communication, and directing client traffic, while representing the organization’s mission and vision.
- Collaborate with internal SDWP teams, and co-located partners, refer clients for program assessments, and services across the Career Center.
- Coordinate with CS Leadership team and network partners, to ensure the front desk & reception area and resource room are appropriately staffed to provide a best-in-class service to clients.
- Enter and maintain basic CRM data entry for client and guest record keeping, including event and workshop attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two to four years (2-4) receptionist or administrative assistant experience.
- Excellent communication with advanced interpersonal skills is desired.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Previous work in Salesforce, Zendesk, CalJOBS, or similar public funded CRM systems.
- Bilingual distinct to Career Center
- Computer proficiency, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Fundamental Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- One to two years (1-2) workforce development experience.
- Knowledge of WIOA, workforce development related programs, Employment Development Department (EDD), Department of Rehabilitation, and CalWorks/CalFresh services.
- Certification(s) in conflict management, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care and/or social-emotional learning.
- An empathetic, person-centered approach.

Compensation for this position ranges from $22.01-$30.84.
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position. If you are hired at San Diego Workforce Partnership, your final base salary (within the pay range), will be determined based on factors such as education, knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members when determining any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer generous benefits and retirement plans.
