Alliant Energy Kids

Alliant Energy Kids is a website to teach 4th and 5th graders important concepts about electricity and natural gas. The educational materials, lesson plans, and web activities teach how energy works, how to conserve energy, and how to stay safe around energy.

ALSC’s 2020 Summer Reading Lists

Titles on the 2020 Summer Reading Lists were compiled and annotated by members of ALSC’s Quicklists Consulting Committee. The lists are full of book titles to keep children engaged in reading throughout the summer. Four Summer Reading book lists are available for Birth-Preschool and grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8.

AmeriCorps NCCC

AmeriCoprsNCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) engages recent college graduates and veterans in public.  AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, team-based residential program for young adults age 18–24.  The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service. Members are assigned to one of five campuses, located in Denver, Colorado; Sacramento, California; Perry Point, Maryland; Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Vinton, Iowa.  All AmeriCorps members receive Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards when they complete their terms of service. These awards can be used to pay back loans or pay for college or graduate school.  A majority of AmeriCorps members have at least some college experience, and the program has a strong track record of creating pathways to public service fields that are currently experiencing workforce shortages.

ARF Summer at Home

The Andy Roddick Foundation invites you to ARF Summer at Home — a free, eight-week virtual summer camp for students in Kindergarten to 5th grade. Through engaging video lessons, ARF Summer at Home offers hands-on learning activities as we Explore Our World. ARF Summer At Home gives administrators, teachers and families what they need to provide students with a self-paced learning experience.

Arithmetic Four Interactive Game

Students play a generalized version of connect four, gaining the chance to place a piece on the board by answering arithmetic questions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Parameters: time, difficulty level, types of questions. Arithmetic Four is one of the Interactivate assessment games.

Art and Drawing Curriculum

These resources could be used as a full drawing curriculum; others would work well as supplements. Most of the resources are specifically for drawing, but there are specific links that incorporate other media as well.
