This workshop is based on proven strategies to empower students to take on leadership roles in the afterschool program. Grounded in personal experiences of a former after school teacher who now works in the program she participated in as a student and her site coordinator who has developed a sustainable distributed leadership model. Built on a strong foundation of student voice and youth empowerment, this workshop will walk you through the conditions needed to foster student-led classes that have led to these student leaders becoming paid staff members at the after school program they attended and supporting new generations of students to become leaders at the program like they were.
