Planning for a “New Year” With Our Kiddos #Repost

Editors note: This blog was first published in January 2018. We believe the content of this blog is as relevant today for 2019, as it was for 2018. Let’s keep asking these questions…

January 1 is really our second “New Year” with our kiddos. Happy New Year, take two!

As educators, we really have two new years. First, we start the year in August or September when our kiddos return from their summer vacation. Then we start a new year when midnight strikes on December 31st. Both are frequently times when we reflect and set goals.

So, how are you doing since your first New Year?

Take a moment to think about how you are doing since you started this school year. What is working? What do you think could be better? What are your goals for this year? What are your resolutions?

Whatever it is….jot them down and keep them to refer throughout the rest of the year. Under each resolution, list how you are going to make it happen.

One of my mentors says “Start with the end in mind.” Sometimes we don’t have the time to stop for a minute and remember the importance of thinking about the goal. This year, “start with the end in mind.”

Have a great New Year! Take two!

For breakfast, I had two eggs, over easy and wheat toast.
