Sylvia Mac is an experienced educator and professional development leader who supports schools, colleges, and community organizations in building inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming practices.She currently serves as Associate Director of the Center for Embodied Equity and Neurodiversity (CEEN) at the University of San Diego, where she leads projects that translate research on belonging, trauma-aware practices, and accessibility into practical tools for educators and student-support staff. A former special education teacher and faculty member, Sylvia has taught and supported learners from preschool through college. At the University of La Verne, she taught special education and graduate-level courses while also guiding campus-wide efforts to strengthen inclusive teaching and advising. Her work focuses on helping educators, advisors, and student-services professionals build environments where neurodiverse learners feel understood, supported, and able to thrive.
Sylvia holds a Ph.D. in Education and advanced training in disability studies, but her approach is rooted in real-world practice: clear strategies, reflective tools, and practical steps that educators can implement immediately. She offers workshops, coaching, and customized professional development on neurodiversity, trauma-aware practices, inclusive learning design, and creating cultures of belonging.
