Grounded in research from the fields of educational psychology, emotional intelligence, and neurobiology, this workshop will offer a toolkit for educators, principals, health care staff, and school counselors whose work serves student populations and communities who have been exposed to varying levels of childhood trauma and adversity. This workshop will unpack the concept of trauma-informed approaches, emotional climate, emotional awareness, and mindfulness, in addition to providing strategies and techniques that support the well-being of adults and children. Participants will engage in activities and rich discussions that integrate their professional and personal experiences, while exploring consequences and emotional tolls of working closely with people affected by trauma and adversity. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate and build off each others’ expertise.
