With the invention of the internet, adolescents are now being influenced by cultures and people from around the globe. Using the cognitive theories of Piaget and social development theories of Elkind, Alberts, and Ginsberg, this presentation will examine the impact social media has on adolescent development. In addition, this presentation will review ways to help support adolescent development by using the positive aspects of social media and adult interventions.
