The California Department of Education (CDE) reports to the Legislature biennially on the type and quality of its After School Education and Safety (ASES) and 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) programs and the characteristics of the students participating in them. This presentation provides a historical overview, a summary of research, a description of program type and participant demographics, and a summary of program impact on student outcomes from the 2021 report.
