My Why: Making a Meaningful Impact

I wasn’t one of those people that knew exactly what they wanted to be when they grew up.

You know, the kid that knew since the age of five. For me, this was a question I grappled with throughout my life, until I directed my path towards happiness. After college, a variety of empty jobs and many years of volunteer work, I realized that my primary goal was simple: to make a meaningful impact. I wanted to inspire others to do the same, and use my experiences to pay it forward.

For me this could come in a variety of different forms. I believe that paying it forward can be as simple as a smile, and a few positive words that can greatly impact someone’s day and potentially their life. Within a degree of cliché, there is always room for good to combat the perceived bad or negativity that seems to consume us at times.

I wanted be a part of something bigger.

It became apparent that in order to create change and inspire others you must surround yourself with like-minded people. In aligning myself with individuals that held like values, I began to become more motivated by the idea of creating positive change in the world and not by a paycheck.

Today, whether I’m assisting an exhibitor in selecting the best booth location for their product or service, or helping an attendee through our registration process, I hope that my interaction with each person I assist leaves them feeling like their day is just a little better.

Once our partners have what they need, they are better able to provide the invaluable support and services that enrich the lives of the young people they serve. And just maybe, when those children have the opportunity to touch the lives of others, they will take it.

I had a bowl of cereal and a green smoothie with kale, chard, collard greens, parsley, dandelion, romaine and apple juice.
