INSPIRATION:
I am inspired every day by the resilience of our children and youth. Most especially by those children who, in the face of diversity continue to survive and cope with the hand that they are dealt. It is up to each of us to support our children through the best means possible so that each has the opportunity to become thoughtful, valued members of our global society. Please consider this: “There but for the grace of God, there go I.”
ACTION ITEM (What is your big action item to make a difference?):
Ensure that all kids are ready and prepared for the current, emerging, and future workforce. This is a priority for the economic well-being of society, and every afterschool program should be providing opportunities for career development to sustain the current and future workforce. It is our responsibility to make sure that our kids have the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to thrive.
SUPERPOWER (What is your superpower?):
Communicating and inspiring others to be leaders in the afterschool field. We are all passionate advocates and must remember that it is up to us to advance this important work. Be proud, be brave, and be willing to step forward and boast about the value of afterschool against all odds. It will make the difference for our kids!
FAVORITE QUOTE (and why?):
This means a great deal to me because it is difficult to continue on in the face of rejection and disappointment. However, we must always go forward and remind ourselves that there is no disgrace in failing, but rather not in trying.
