NewSchools funds early-stage organizations and new initiatives to enact bold change in PK-12 public education. In 2022, the fund is piloting a more streamlined funding process, and rather than having a funding opportunity for each of its investment areas, it will have one main funding opportunity. It will work internally to determine how each idea fits best with the organization’s strategy. The organization’s investments align with the following focus areas:

Learning Solutions: Literacy tools and content and/or whole-school models that are reimagining learning.

Diverse Leaders: Educator diversity, parent leadership and advocacy, leaders supporting DEI efforts.

Racial Equity: Ideas led by people of color that advance racial equity.

Learning Differences: Innovations empowering students with learning differences, specifically those who are affected by poverty and racism.

Meet the Moment: Innovation to support educators in recovering and rebuilding from the pandemic.
