Meet BOOST Leadership Team Member Becky Shultz
How did you enter the OST, expanded learning, and/or educational field?
I began my career as a Counselor at a County home for children who were removed from their parents. The next 17+ years I worked as a School Counselor for children 5-12.
What motivates you to do this work?
I believe that our children need advocates and mentors to grow up safe and successful.
What are you currently reading or watching?
I love to read mystery novels and watch murder mysteries, travel, and food shows.
Share some of your greatest accomplishments.
My life has been dedicated to helping children and giving back whenever possible.
What are some big goals you are working toward?
I am now focusing on a new chapter in my life filled with family, friends, and giving back to my community.
What are your top three leadership qualities?
Passion, Responsibility and Compassion
Name a leader that you admire and why?
Mother Teresa because of her selfless life and compassion for others.

As a child, what were your career aspirations?
I think I wanted to be a Veterinarian or a Missionary.
What causes are you passionate about?
Anything surrounding child safety, Education, Equal Rights, and Global Awareness
What is one of the highlights of your career?
Having a career that, hopefully, made a difference in many children’s lives.
How do you show kindness to others and/or share ways others have shown kindness to you?
I show kindness by listening, caring, and trying to follow the Golden Rule.
What career legacy do you want to leave?
A legacy of teaching children to give back with the gifts they were given.
What’s the biggest mistake you made on the job and what did you learn from it?
The biggest mistake I have made is to underestimate people and their ability to rise to their potential.
